Day 113  |  Friday, 10 July 2020

“Holiness of Heart and Life” “Trusting God”

“Every day is an opportunity to trust God in new ways.  In the midst of daily life, you can put your trust in God – hopefully and faithfully – knowing that your life is enfolded into God’s care and love: ‘I lie down, sleep, and wake up because the Lord helps me.’ (Psalm 3:5) To be sure, trusting God is the only way to avoid the precariousness of life.  In Faith, we know that the Lord sustains our lives and watches over us in every moment.  Trusting God is believing that your life is under God’s loving and protective care.”  Wesley Study Bible CEB page 686.

Lord, our daily life is centered around faithfully trusting you.  Our faith is that our life is under your care sustaining us in our times of need.  Continue to surround us with your love as we go through these changing times, some of which bring us pause.  Lord, hear our prayers.  Amen

Today: trust God

Backyard BBQ Beans (I believe this is from 3C’s catering)
  • 1 lb hamburger
  • 8 oz bacon chopped
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 8 oz tomato sauce
  • 28 oz baked beans (bush)
  • ½ c brown sugar
  • 2 T Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 T molasses
  • 2 T cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • *1 can each butter beans, kidney, black and chickpeas
  • salt and pepper to taste
Brown burger, bacon, and onions in a large pan. Add the rest of the ingredients, mix well, put in casserole dish, and bake for 60 minutes.  Great for crockpot.  Adjust seasoning to your taste. *Use whatever beans you have on hand.  This will feed a crowd.

Broccoli cheese crockpot soup
  • 1-pound bag of frozen chopped broccoli
  • 2 10 ounce cans of cream of celery soup
  • 1 pint half-and-half
  • 8 ounces of cheese whiz
  • salt and pepper to taste

Put all ingredients in a crockpot. Do not thaw broccoli first. Cook on low 3 to 4 hours and stirring occasionally. Frozen broccoli cauliflower carrot mix can be used in place of broccoli.
