Day 210| Thursday, 15 October 2020
COVID update – 812 cases with 227 in zip 14701 A Beginning: An Awesome God “We come into the presence of the holy God, who may not be grasped, but may be gazed upon; who is not easily understood, but is full of understanding; who does not come at our beck and call, but who is always near. We pray as God's children in confident assurance that God is with us.” An Invocation: “You are great in every way, O God, and greatly to be praised. Your mighty power is unfathomable for mere humans to understand. Even so, we know that you are present at all times and in all places. We dare to ask for whatever power we may need to live the best lives that may glorify you. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.” A Prayer of Confession: Serving “Compassionate God, your love for us is unquestionable, your grace is deeper than the ocean, your wisdom beyond measure. Yet, our response to your greatness is often shallow and hesitant. We fine-tune excuses and drum up questions. We miss your call to servanthood because we are looking for higher positions, better perks, lasting privileges. We long for recognition, for some-one to say, "Thank you." Holy God teach us the joy of serving with glad and willing hearts. Remind us that no act of kindness is ever forgotten by you. Reassure us of your love that turns our hesitant witness into faithful discipleship. In Jesus' name. Amen.” A Prayer: “Lighten us up, O God, and let us refuse to hear or to be the downbeat drummers in the pessimist band. Let us exchange sorrow for joy, meanness for kindness and despair for hope. Amen.” An Affirmation of Faith: Fruitfulness (Psalm 1:3; Luke 6:43-44; John 15:5; Galatians 5:22-23; Hebrews 13:15; 2 Corinthians 9:8; Ephesians 3:20-21) “We believe that the righteous ones are like trees planted by streams of water, which yield their fruit in its season, and their leaves do not wither. We believe that no good tree bears bad fruit, nor again does a bad tree bear good fruit; for each tree is known by its own fruit. We believe that Jesus is the vine and we are the branches. We believe those who abide in Jesus and he in them bear much fruit, because apart from him we can do nothing. We believe the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. We believe that through Jesus Christ we are strengthened to continually offer the fruit of lips that confess praise to God. We believe that God is able to provide us with every blessing in abundance, so that by always having enough of everything, we may share abundantly in every good work. We believe that Jesus Christ is the power at work within us to accomplish abundantly far more than all we can ask or imagine, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” A Blessing: May the Christ who offered himself to bear the sins of all, touch your life in a personal way. May his saving grace erase the darkness of the past and keep you in his loving presence. Amen.
