Day 85  |  Friday, 12 June 2020

An update on the Corona Virus in our Battalion.  As of June 10th, there were 28 cases in Battalion 3 which is up 3 cases from June 5th.  This brought the total cases in the county to 105.

It appears that Mr. and Mrs. Mallard and the 10 ducklings have moved to another location.  I have not seen them since Tuesday.

A couple more translations of Psalm 23 with comment.

 Psalm 23 – Young’s Literal Translation (YLT)
“Jehovah is my shepherd, I do not lack, In pastures of tender grass He causeth me to lie down, By quiet waters He doth lead me.  My soul He refresheth, He leadeth me in paths of righteousness, For His name’s sake, Also–when I walk in a valley of death-shade, I fear no evil, for Thou art with me, Thy rod and Thy staff–they comfort me. Thou arrangest before me a table, Over-against my adversaries, Thou hast anointed with oil my head, My cup is full! Only–goodness and kindness pursue me, All the days of my life, And my dwelling is in the house of Jehovah, For a length of days!”

Psalm 23 – Wycliffe Bible (WYC)
“The Lord governeth me, and nothing shall fail to me; in the place of pasture there he hath set me. He nourished me on the water of refreshing, he converted my soul. He led me forth on the paths of rightfulness; for his name. For why though I shall go in the midst of shadow of death; I shall not dread evils, for thou art with me. Thy rod and thy staff; those have comforted me. Thou hast made ready a board in my sight; against them that trouble me. Thou hast made fat mine head with oil; and my cup, that filleth greatly, is full clear. And thy mercy shall follow me; in all the days of my life. And that I dwell in the house of the Lord; into the length of days.”

Would we claim the LORD as our shepherd? Then we need to let go. We need simply to rest in the presence of the LORD, seek the LORD’s guidance in prayer, both personal and collective, let go and let the LORD lead. If we would have the LORD as our shepherd — let us first off acknowledge that the LORD is our shepherd.

And then — may the LORD lead us forward, to green pastures, still waters. May the LORD take us down our right path. Even if our right path takes us into the very Valley of the Shadow of Death — we in our humility will be bold, in that we will fear no evil, for we will know our shepherd, and we will know that the shepherd — our shepherd — will be with us always.  We know we will be safe in our shepherd’s arms.

Prayers for Marianne Schnell and her continuing recovery.  She came home Wednesday evening.

“Surprising and persistent God, you never give up on us. You seek us, follow us, call us. We cannot escape from your yearning for us, and only when we turn to you, do we find the sweetness of life, the reason for living, an ever-flowing fountain of joy. Thank you for your amazing grace that surprises us, comforts us and renews us. Give us hearts of gratitude and forever singing your praise. Amen.” Lord, Hear our prayers.  Sourcebook of Worship Resources, Vol. 3, p. 116

Today: Praise God from whom all blessings flow!
